A cinematic stroll through Paris’s upmarket neighbourhoods with a ‘film noir’ atmosphere

A French term used to describe certain American crime films of the 1940s, the French version of ‘film noir’ hit the screens in the post-war period. Paris plays its part as an oppressive city, fatal to its heroes, a playground where cops and crooks clash.

During this cinematic tour, we’ll investigate the city’s upmarket neighbourhoods and follow in the footsteps of some of the genre’s classics, from *L’Armée des ombres* to *Ne le dis à Personne*, via *A Prophet*, *À Bout de Souffle* and *Le Samouraï*.

Through photos and film clips, we’ll catch up with Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Lino Ventura, Jeanne Moreau, Simone Signoret, Romain Duris and Tahar Rahim, who shone with their dark charisma in the streets around Parc Monceau, the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.
