About This Experience

Your experience

Paris hosted six World’s Fairs between 1855 and 1937. They have left a lasting mark on the city. This tour invites you to step back in time and discover these six major celebrations through archive images. Huge crowds flocked to these events. The 1900 exhibition attracted over 50 million people – far more than the total population of France.

Many buildings and engineering structures still bear witness to these exhibitions today. They were mainly concentrated between the Trocadéro, the Champs de Mars and Les Invalides.

From the iconic Eiffel Tower to the Grand Palais, discover the wide variety of structures created for Paris’s World’s Fairs. Many other remnants can be found throughout the country and even abroad.

The tour starts at the Palais du Trocadéro and ends in the superb, recently renovated hall of the Grand Palais.
