Guided tour: The Hôtel de Beauvais, Paris Administrative Court of Appeal – Interkultur

The Hôtel de Beauvais is a historic monument built in the mid-seventeenth century to the plans of Antoine Lepautre. It is the headquarters since 1995 of the administrative court of appeal of Paris at the cost of major restoration work.

The visit will show the large courtroom as well as the small rooms on the first floor. This part may remain out of reach of the course due to current events at the Court.

With the exception of the garden, the renovation has respected the original layout of the hotel. The route will allow you to admire the grand staircase of honor, the court of honor, the staircase leading to the old chapel.  But also the medieval room located in the basement which is in a state very close to that discovered by the first owners of the hotel, Pierre and Catherine de Beauvais. The latter, the first chambermaid of Queen Anne of Austria, is better known as Catherine Bélier, also nicknamed "Cateau la Borgnesse". Saint-Simon credits him with having initiated the young Louis XIV into the pleasures of love.

The Sun King will always remain deeply attached to her, keeping her by her side at court until her death. He has also bestowed upon her a important pension allowing the couple from Beauvais to build one of the most beautiful private mansions of the Great Century still visible in the Marais.

The Hôtel de Beauvais became the embassy of Bavaria in the 18th century. He also remains in history for having welcomed Mozart as a child during his first trip to Paris.
