The Monnaie de Paris is considered to be one of the oldest companies in the world still in operation. Created in 864 by king Charles II - known as Charles the Bald – installed on the Quai de Conti in 1775, this French institution has been minting coins for more than 11 centuries. The factory is still in operation today and it is here that special and limited-edition pieces are produced, as well as French euros.
In 2017, this famous Parisian landmark opened its doors to a remarkable museum highlighting the arts and crafts of the Monnaie de Paris. Good to know for your visit
Admission to the Musée de la Monnaie de Paris is free for certain public on presentation of a piece of ID: all young people under 26, holders of the Pass Education, jobseekers, people with a disability and the person accompanying them, ... (full list on the museum website and at the museum ticket office).
Admission the museum is free for everyone on the first Sunday of each month.
A reduced rate is offered on site to holders of the Pass Navigo.
For any temporary exhibitions taking place in the exhibition halls, another ticket must be purchased to gain access.
