The Château de Fontainebleau is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its architecture and wide range of decorative features reflect the times and tastes of the many rulers who resided here between the 12th and 19th centuries. During a visit, browse the chateau’s galleries and gardens that are full of masterpieces and get an insight into 800 years of art and history. Discover frescoes and stuccoes of the Renaissance period, admire the King's or Queen's apartments, and visit the Throne Room, or the apartments of Napoleon Bonaparte and the museum dedicated to him.

Good to know for your visit

Access to the Château de Fontainebleau is free, upon presentation of proof, for: all young people under 18 years of age, residents of the European Union aged 18 to 25 years inclusive, holders of the Education Pass, job seekers, people with disabilities and their companion, ... (complete list available on the museum's website and directly on site).

As part of the Vigipirate program security controls are put in place at the entrance of Parisian museums and monuments. In case of a large attendance, these controls can create a waiting time which cannot be skipped
