About This Experience
You will be able to discover a full furnished castle (don't miss the magnificent rocky woodwork of the Apartment of the Assembly), you have to take a pick as well to the French garden with canals and islands and an English garden as well.
It is in the park that you will find the two most exceptional places of the visit: the Queen's Dairy, built for Marie-Antoinette by Louis XVI, and the Shell Cottage with its majestic decoration of mother-of-pearl and shells, built at the request of the Duke of Penthièvre for the Princess of Lamballe.
Buildings that will not leave you indifferent.
In the castle’s surroundings, you you’ll see the pleasant paths of the Rambouillet forest, former hunting territory of the kings, a beautiful piece of French nature that is just waiting for you to visit it.
Please note :
Access to the museum is free, upon presentation of proof, for: all young people under 18 years of age, residents of the European Union aged 18 to 25 years inclusive, holders of the Education Pass, job seekers, people with disabilities and their companion, ... As part of the Vigipirate program security controls are put in place at the entrance of Parisian museums and monuments. In case of a large attendance, these controls can create a waiting time which cannot be skipped.
IMPORTANT :
Entry to the castle is free during European Heritage Days on 19 and 20 September 2026, on the third weekend in September, and on the first Sunday of every month from November to March inclusive.
It is mandatory for your visit to reserve a time slot on the online ticketing system of the castle, by selecting the option "I already have a ticket":
https://tickets.monuments-nationaux.fr/fr-FR/familles?site=2003857154940400048
The tickets only give access to the "Discovery" route. For visitors wishing to take advantage of the "Grand Tour" offer, including guest rooms, a supplement of €2 per ticket can be paid directly on site. The free visit includes the castle, the dairy and the cottage with shells.
As part of the Vigipirate plan, we thank you in advance for your understanding regarding the slowdown caused by the security checks set up at the entrance to the monument. Therefore, priority access cannot be guaranteed in case of high traffic.
