Overview of the main places used by the Germans to house soldiers, officers and army headquarters in Paris. The walk will also evoke
Occupation seen daily through the eyes of anonymous people, this walk will also evoke the Deportation of the Jews, the French collaboration and the Resistance.
Through different neighborhoods and alleys, we will explore the daily life between Germans and Parisians. Discover the buildings occupied by the German army such as the
Kommandantur. Located on the Place de l'Opéra, it was the main meeting point between the occupying army and the French population. Magnificent hotels, such as the Meurice, also served as headquarters for the Paris region. It became a major fighting point between the Germans and the Allies. It was in this hotel that the last German commander signed his surrender and the end of the occupation.
The visit will end at the Place de la Concorde with other photos and stories of the liberation of Paris in August 1944.
2-hour outdoor walking tour from the Grands Boulevards to Place de la Concorde.
The meeting point is outside the Paradox Museum.
